This standard prime lens boasts a lightweight and compact design, weighing just 160g, and a bright f/1.8 aperture.
It inherits the acclaimed optical design of the EF50mm f/1.8 II and features coatings optimized for digital photography.
In addition, the aperture blade has been changed from five blades to seven, resulting in beautifully blurred backgrounds and highlighting the subject.
When mounted on an EOS series camera equipped with an APS-C CMOS sensor, the focal length image is equivalent to approximately 80mm in 35mm format, making it ideal for portrait photography. High-quality metal mount. STM (gear type) for quiet, smooth AF. Optimized coating suppresses flare and ghosting. Focus ring with an easy-to-operate shape. Full-time Manual Focus: This feature allows the photographer to instantly switch to manual focus after one-shot AF by simply rotating the focus ring. This feature is available on all EF lenses equipped with Ring USM. Beautiful bokeh: Create impressive background blur. The EF50mm f/1.8 STM boasts soft, beautiful bokeh. The softly blurred background makes the main subject stand out for striking shots. It captures beautiful scenes in both dark and dimly lit rooms, as well as nighttime scenes.
