This is the first limited edition 2x zoom lens with a focal length of 20-40mm. When attached to Ricoh Imaging's PENTAX K-series digital SLR cameras, it provides an angle of view equivalent to a focal length of 30.5-61.5mm in the 35mm format. Its coverage of the most frequently used focal range for general photography, from landscapes and everyday snapshots to portraits, makes it an ideal everyday lens. This Limited Lens is focused on image quality and texture. Following the design concept of Ricoh Imaging's Limited Lens series, this lens features an optical design that minimizes astigmatism throughout the entire zoom range and prioritizes three-dimensional image quality. Its soft image quality at full aperture and sharpness increase as the aperture is narrowed, allowing for precise image reproduction tailored to the subject. The lens barrel, hood, and cap are crafted from machined aluminum for a premium feel. The knurling on the zoom ring, located in the center of the lens, features a special pattern, enhancing the overall feel and enhancing ease of zoom operation during shooting. This Limited lens is the first to feature a weather-resistant construction. It also features the latest high-performance multi-coating, "HD Coating," which reduces average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional multi-coatings. This reduces ghosting and flare even under challenging lighting conditions, such as backlighting, for clear, crisp, and high-contrast images. In addition, the optical system uses ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) and anomalous-low dispersion glass to effectively correct chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range, achieving sharp, clear, and high-resolution images from the center to the periphery.
This is the first Limited lens in the Limited series to feature weather-resistant construction, with seven seals to prevent water droplets from entering the lens. When paired with a weather-resistant PENTAX digital SLR body, this lens offers improved durability and reliability in rainy, foggy, and splash-prone environments.
The in-lens motor-driven AF system ensures quiet and smooth autofocusing.
A circular aperture suppresses light beams when shooting with point light sources, achieving soft bokeh.
The Quick-Shift Focus System allows manual focusing without the need for switching operations after AF focus has been achieved.
