This is a plastic model that requires assembly and painting. Separate tools, paints, etc. are required.
Product introduction 1/48 scale plastic model. After the Sino-Japanese War of 1937, the Japanese Navy suffered small-scale air raids by the Chinese Air Force. For this reason, the Navy felt the need for a high-speed fighter for base air defense, and presented Mitsubishi with the development of the 14th experimental local fighter. Mitsubishi received this plan, and considering the need to install a powerful engine, the engine that was decided on according to the requirements had a large diameter, so the engine was placed at the rear using an extended shaft to consider air resistance, and the nose was narrowed down to create a spindle-shaped fuselage, a design that was not seen in conventional Japanese aircraft. In 1942, the first prototype was reviewed and the fast landing speed and poor visibility were pointed out, but after modifications such as improving the shape of the windshield, production began in September 1943 as the Raiden Type 11 (J2M2). The Raiden Type 21 (J2M3) was a model with enhanced armament, equipped with four 20mm machine guns instead of 7.7mm machine guns, and was the most produced of all the Raiden models. After that, about 500 units were produced in total, including the Type 31 (J2M6), the Type 32 (J2M4) equipped with an exhaust turbine supercharger, and the Type 33 (J2M5) with a larger windshield, and they were used to intercept enemy bombers entering the Japanese mainland.
