The T72 appeared in the 1970s as the main battle tank of the former Soviet Union to replace the T62, and was equipped with a laser range finder and strengthened armor. The type is M1. It has the traditional low-slung style of Soviet tanks and is equipped with a 125mm smoothbore gun with an automatic loading device. It is also produced and used in large numbers in Eastern bloc and Arab countries, and participated in the 1991 Gulf War as the main battle tank of the Iraqi Presidential Guard. The unique style of T72M1 and the texture of the cast turret are also realistically modeled. The area around the engine grill is finished with a sense of precision using photo-etched parts, mesh, and coil springs.
