The Abyss Crawler is a third-generation Hexa Gear developed by the Liberty Alliance.

It was developed for the purpose of exploring and controlling obstructed terrain such as culverts.

Unlike other third generation robots, it has two Zoatex modes, and is always in Zoatex mode.

At the start of the war, urban centers across the country were subjected to surprise attacks by unmanned Hexa Gear known as Hidestorms.

Subsequent investigations have confirmed the existence of numerous other large underground pipes and facilities from the past that were used as infiltration routes during attacks, and Liberty Alliance has made it an urgent task to clarify the full extent of these as soon as possible.

By exposing communication lines, repeaters, and power lines connecting cities, they threaten the cooperation of the Liberty Alliance from underground.

The Liberty Alliance recognized the need to clean up this contaminated underground area, and quickly prepared a unit and Hexa Gear dedicated to the task.

During development, the remains of the destroyed Hidestorm were salvaged and the frame structure was redesigned and used.

However, VIC blades have no prospect of replicating, controlling, or neutralizing the phenomenon, and remain a second-best countermeasure.

The Invasion Counter Shield, commonly known as "ICS", is equipped on the left arm.
