Commercialization permission granted Nankai Electric Railway is a railway company that connects Namba in Osaka to Wakayama, Koyasan, and Kansai International Airport.

Founded in December 1885, it is the oldest private railway in Japan.

The 6000 series is a vehicle with 72 cars manufactured from 1962 to 1969 for the purpose of increasing the transportation capacity of the Nankai Koya Line.

This series was the first to adopt an all-stainless steel body for Nankai Electric Railway.
Since then, it has been modified to have air conditioners, replaced bogies, and partially updated, and as of 2024, it continues to be in service although the number has decreased.
In September 2023, six cars including the 6001 train will be returned to the appearance of the unpainted era as "nostalgic stainless steel unpainted" and operated.
