The 430-type, the fifth-generation Cedric and sixth-generation Gloria in the history of luxury cars, were released in June 1979 as a complete redesign of the previous 330 series.
Their catchphrases were "Cedric with Advanced Aesthetics" and "Silent Gloria," respectively, and they incorporated electronic controls that were revolutionary at the time, attracting attention as luxury cars of a new era with quietness and comfort that overturned the conventional wisdom of luxury cars up to that point.
