In 2006, the FJ Cruiser, a full-scale off-road vehicle for the North American market, was released.

Although the ladder frame and suspension were similar to those of the Land Cruiser, its exterior had a distinctive form.

The car, which has a distinctive appearance with front light surrounds reminiscent of the classic 40 series, wide-opening double doors, and a body using two-tone and vivid colors, was released in 2010 with specifications tailored to the Japanese market.

After adding color packages and off-road package models, production of the Japanese model ended in 2017.
