[About the actual aircraft] The EC-1 is an electronic warfare training aircraft developed based on the C-1 transport aircraft operated by the Air Self-Defense Force. The Air Self-Defense Force's domestically produced medium-sized transport aircraft, which began deployment in 1973, is based on the C-1 and is equipped with electronic warfare equipment. It was manufactured in 1986 based on the C-1 mass-produced aircraft No. 021. The aircraft is characterized by a large fairing with a duckbill-like appearance and is equipped with ECM jamming equipment. The aircraft is equipped with large antenna fairings on the nose and rear fuselage, as well as two small antenna fairings on each side of the fuselage for jamming signals. Only one aircraft was built and deployed to the Air Self-Defense Force's Iruma Air Base Air Tactical Training Wing's Electronic Warfare Group.
