Guns N' Roses' long-awaited third and fourth studio albums, "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II," were originally released simultaneously on September 17, 1991. The tremendous success of "GN'R Rides" and "Appetite for Destruction" posed a daunting challenge for the band to create a follow-up album. Guns N' Roses not only accomplished this feat, but surprised the world by simultaneously releasing two new full-length studio albums. Following the release of both albums, "Use Your Illusion I" reached number two on the US Billboard 200, while "Use Your Illusion II" reached number one. It's estimated that the two albums sold over 500,000 copies within two hours of release, and 685,000 and 770,000 copies, respectively, within a week of their release. "Use Your Illusion II" features the band's Top 50 single "You Could Be Mine," "Civil War," which reached No. 4 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, and Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," as well as a lyrical version of "Don't Cry." Disc 1 features the original studio album "Use Your Illusion II," fully remastered for the first time from the original stereo 1/2-inch analog master tapes, transferred to 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution audio, and presented on a 44.1kHz 16-bit CD. Disc 2 features previously unreleased live recordings from the 1991-1992 "Use Your Illusion" tour, featuring performances in London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, New York, and Las Vegas.
