Hokuetsu Express is a third-sector company that operates the 59.5km "Hokuhoku Line", which connects Tokamachi, Muikamachi (which connects to the Joetsu Line), and Saigata (which connects to the Shin'etsu Main Line).
The HK100 series is a train that has been in service on the Hokuhoku Line since its opening.
Due to renovation work carried out from 2009, the exterior paint was changed and the old design was lost, but in April 2025 it was restored, and two cars are now in service with the old design as general passenger cars.
This product is a two-car set of HK100-3 and HK100-6 with the restored paint.
By using a separately sold power unit and N gauge running parts, it can be run as an N gauge model train.
The recommended power unit is TM-14 (20m class A2), the running parts set is TT-04R, and the pantograph is PT4811N [0258]
