The BNR32 GT-R debuted in August 1989, at the height of Japan's bubble economy, as an additional model to the R32 Skyline, which had already made its debut as the "Super-Sensory Skyline.
" The Skyline GT-R lineage, which had been dormant for 16 years since the Kenmeri GT-R, was revived.
The BNR32 was created to win the JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship, a Group A race in domestic touring car racing at the time, and its specially designed, powerful RB26DETT engine had its displacement determined in accordance with Group A regulations.
The BNR32 Skyline GT-R won every race it entered in the JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship, achieving a legendary 29 consecutive wins.
After the BNR32's appearance, racing became a GT-R one-make series, and from the street to the circuit, the BNR32 reigned supreme on every stage, becoming a historically significant car that rewrote automotive history up to that point.
