Recreate the scenes of firing exercises and parades!
The 87AW is now available with photo-etched parts!
The Type 87 Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun is the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's only standalone anti-aircraft weapon capable of performing anti-aircraft combat from target search and tracking to firing.
It is currently deployed as a close-range anti-aircraft support weapon that can accompany armored units and counter enemy anti-tank helicopters, etc.

Development began in 1982 as a replacement for the M42 Duster.

Initially, it was planned to be developed based on the chassis of the Type 61 tank, but due to size issues, it was designed and developed based on the Type 74 tank and officially adopted in 1987.

The main armament consists of two Oerlikon KDA 35mm autocannons, and the turret is equipped with a search radar/tracking radar at the rear.
A laser rangefinder, infrared night vision device, and TV camera are also provided as backup.

Furthermore, by using armor-piercing rounds prepared separately for anti-aircraft fire, it possesses the versatility to also engage in anti-armor combat.

The hull has a significantly larger volume compared to the Type 74 tank, resulting in a silhouette that looks like a completely different vehicle.

52 units were procured and are currently deployed to anti-aircraft artillery units such as the 7th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment (Higashi-Chitose), the 2nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion (Asahikawa), the Anti-Aircraft Artillery School (Chiba), and the Ordnance School (Tsuchiura).

It is one of the main pieces of equipment that can be seen firing live ammunition at the Fuji Combined Arms Exercise held every summer.

The product is a 1/72 scale unpainted kit that requires gluing, assembly, and painting.

This product features an improved design style with enhanced quality and specifications compared to the 1/72 series, and includes photo-etched parts for the Type 87 Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun (2 units included).

The turret is integrally molded using a slide mold.

The number of parts has been kept to a minimum of 109, while parts where accuracy is paramount are made into separate components.

The upper sides and bottom of the vehicle body accurately reproduce the welding marks and anti-slip features found on the actual vehicle.

The decals include details for enthusiasts.
- Basic markings such as vehicle numbers, affiliation designations, and unit emblems cover all units, including "2nd High-Range Special Forces", "7th High-Range Regiment", "High-Air Defense School", and "Weapons School".

Furthermore, it includes the unique two-digit numbering system of the Air Defense School, and the "Caution: Overtaking" signs used when driving on public roads, which will make you want to build a diorama of the C route in Chitose.
- Vehicles that displayed the unit flag during the parade at each base, as well as vehicles with distinctive markings from the past, are included in equal proportions of 3/4 launcher-equipped vehicles.
- We used photo-etched parts to reproduce delicate details that could not be fully expressed with injection-molded parts.

This helps to enhance the level of detail.

The included upgrade photo-etched parts are enough for two vehicles, and the set offers a wide range of options.

The photo-etched parts include grille mesh, rear basket, mudguards, heat exchange ventilators, headlight guards, and more.

Use it wherever you like, from prominent areas to small details.

This etching set offers a wide range of choices and is packed with content.
- Compatible with detailing the 1/72 scale Military Series No. 9 Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Type 87 Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun.

Features: The 35mm barrel's taper angle and the position of its widest point are meticulously incorporated into the 1/72 scale model using plastic parts.
- The smoke grenade launcher is available in two types: an early model with a 3-barrel launcher and a later model with a 4-barrel launcher.

The tracks replicate the rubber-padded type seen at military parades and other events.
- Laser rangefinders and infrared night vision devices are made of transparent parts.
- Headlights and periscopes are made of transparent parts.
- The underside of the vehicle reproduces details that are often omitted, such as the driver's emergency exit and welding marks.
- The tow cable at the rear of the vehicle is a separate part, taking painting into consideration.
