TAMIYA 1/350 special submarine I-400. T1350 I-400
[Product introduction]
TAMIYA 1/350 special submarine I-400.
[The world's largest "submersible aircraft carrier"]
It was built as a unique submersible aircraft carrier in history, launching three special attack aircraft "Seiran" from a submarine capable of covert operations. This is the Japanese Navy's I-400 class submarine. With a total length of 122m, a total width of 12m, and a displacement of 6560 tons underwater, it was comparable to a destroyer and was the largest in the world at the time. In addition, it had the long range to sail around the globe without calling at any port, and it was never a dream to launch a surprise attack on the East Coast of the United States or the Panama Canal, a key Allied military base. The first ship, I-400, was completed in December 1944 at the end of the Pacific War. The war ended while she was on her way to attack the American task force at Ulithi Atoll with her second ship, I-401, and never saw any actual combat. However, its performance demonstrated the superior technological capabilities of the Japanese Navy to the world, and is said to have led to the later concept of strategic missile nuclear submarines.
[I-400 main details]
Standard displacement: 3530 tons Underwater displacement: 6560 tons Overall length: 122m/Width: 12m Maximum speed: 18.7 knots on water, 6.5 knots underwater Weapons: 8 53cm torpedo tubes Equipped with one 14cm single gun, three 25mm triple machine guns, and one 25mm single machine gun: 3 special attack aircraft "Seiran" With a total length of 348.5 mm, it boasted the world's largest aircraft storage tube and offset conning tower. A powerful model of the majesty. The vertically split hull is precisely engraved on the entire surface using a slide mold. The storage tube, which has been realistically reproduced down to the inner wall, can be assembled with three Seiran units stored. A set of 2 Seiran aircraft ready for flight. You can also choose to display it on a catapult just before ejection or on a dolly. Photo-etched parts are available for the crane arm, Seiran's propeller, etc. The crane and antenna are movable and can be recreated in storage. Comes with a pedestal for display. The crane is movable and can be enjoyed in use and storage even after completion. The crane arm and the hook at the tip are made of sharp etching. The storage tube hatch can be opened and closed. The deck and inner walls of the storage tube are also expressed with precise molding. The back side of the hatch and Seiran's propeller are detailed with photo-etched parts. The control tower has a high-density finish including various antennas, snorkels, and a single 25mm machine gun. The periscope can be raised or lowered. The three 25mm triple machine guns are detailed using laser processing technology, including the trumpet-shaped extinguisher and bellows-shaped heat sink. The screw, which is the lifeblood of a submarine, reveals the world's top submarine construction technology at the time. The vertical rudder is movable with a polycap. The complex shape around the eight torpedo tubes has also been accurately captured and rendered in three-dimensional form. The submarine rudder on the bow can be opened or closed. Just like the actual ship, three Seiran can be stored inside the storage tube. Seiran with its wings folded can be reliably assembled by cleverly dividing the parts. Photo-etched parts are included for the crane arm, antennas, and Seiran's propeller. Coupled with machine guns that make full use of laser processing technology, the detailed expression stands out.
