[Product Introduction]
TAMIYA 1/350 Japan Airlines Cruiser Mogami.
[Exploring the capabilities of the aviation cruiser that the times demanded]
In the latter half of the Pacific War, the Mogami of the Japanese Navy was renovated into an aviation cruiser with enhanced enemy search capabilities. A large light cruiser with a size of 15.5 cm and five triple turrets, completed in July 1933 as the first ship of the Mogami class. Later, when the London Naval Treaty became invalid, the main gun was replaced with a 20.3cm twin turret, and the ship became a heavy cruiser. In the first half of the war, he fought bravely in the Malayan Landings and the Battle of Batavia. In June 1945, she was converted into an aviation cruiser in order to repair the damage sustained during the Battle of Midway. A flight deck that can carry 11 seaplanes is installed at the rear of the hull, and anti-aircraft defenses are also strengthened with 10 triple 25mm machine guns. In May 1945, the reborn Mogami was partially damaged in the Rabaul air raid in November of the same year, and its armament was strengthened again. After that, she sortied on enemy search missions at the Battle of the Marianas in June 1944. She also participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October, but was severely damaged and burned by enemy carrier-based aircraft. In this battle, which effectively ended the Japanese Navy, Mogami also disappeared into the Mindanao Sea. 1/350 scale, total length 573mm, total width 76mm. The unique style with the flight deck at the rear of the hull is fully modeled as it looked when the renovation was completed in 1944. The upper part of the hull is divided into left and right parts, and the lower part is an integrated part, giving a realistic reproduction of the hull form including the beautiful bow. Screws are used for large parts such as the hull and flight deck to ensure secure assembly. Capturing and reproducing the features of the Mogami type, such as the compact bridge structure and induction chimney. The bridge windows and searchlight lenses are made of transparent parts to add realistic accents. The main turret, torpedo tube, high-angle gun, catapult, etc. can be rotated even after completion. The main gun barrel has parts for normal and anti-aircraft combat. Polycap allows replacement even after completion. The front and rear masts and flagpole are made of ABS resin that is hard to break. Each part of the anti-aircraft machine gun has a detailed finish, including the flame extinguisher and heat sink. Delicate photo-etched parts are included for cranes, catapults, propellers for carrier-based aircraft, transport vehicles, and sliding cars. The anchor chain and propeller shaft are made of metal. A set of 3 Type 0 surface observation aircraft and 8 Type 0 surface reconnaissance aircraft as carrier-based aircraft. The delicate mold has enough presence. We also have a stand where you can display carrier-based aircraft in flight. Comes with a pedestal for display. The beautiful curve of the bow, unique to Japanese Navy cruisers, is vividly reproduced. The anchor chain has metal parts. The main gun barrel has parts for normal use and anti-aircraft combat, and can be replaced even after completion. The waterproof cover of the gun barrel is also realistically reproduced. The bridge structure also has a sharp finish. The bridge windows and searchlight lenses are transparent parts, adding realistic accents to the details. The central part of the ship, including the unique stacked smokestack, four twin high-angle guns, and anti-aircraft guns in various parts, is also delicately molded and finished with a sense of density. The front and rear masts are made of ABS resin that is hard to break. Photo-etched parts are used for the crane arm and catapult to enhance the sense of precision. Highlights include the delicate carvings on the hull and flight deck, as well as the impressive finish of each aircraft. A set of photo-etched parts and metal parts that further enhance the sense of realism. You can choose between full-hull and waterline specifications for the hull, and you can look forward to building a single ship, displaying it, and creating scenes.
