HASEGAWA 1/350 NYK Hikawa Maru. HZ28 Hikawa Maruni Honyu Released in October 2024
[Product Introduction]
HASEGAWA 1/350 NYK Hikawa Maru. Hikawamaru is a cargo and passenger ship built by Nippon Yusen in 1930. Her sister ships are Hie Maru and Heian Maru. Operated on the North Pacific route (Seattle route). The quality of the service has been praised by foreign passengers, and celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin have boarded the ship. However, in October 1941, just before the start of the Pacific War, she was requisitioned as a retrieval ship for Japanese people overseas, and was later used as a hospital ship belonging to the Japanese Navy. She avoided sinking until the end of the war, and in 1950, after the war, she returned to NYK's international routes and operated on the North Pacific route until her retirement in 1960. The kit uses a completely new mold to recreate the pre-war era of NYK Line. The hull has internal girders to ensure reliable assembly and strength. As for the guest room, the exterior that can be seen through the openings has been carefully crafted. The cross-sectional shape (camper) of the deck, which is curved to improve drainage, is also accurately reproduced. Transparent parts are included for the bridge windows and searchlights. A display stand is included. The large number of cranes (derricks) and their winches, which can be said to be one of the characteristics of cargo and passenger ships, are also precisely made into parts. You can enjoy the parts composition and presence that are completely different from those of battleships and aircraft carriers. Hikawa Maru is currently housed at Yokohama Yamashita Park under the management of NYK Line, and can be visited for a fee. If you prepare in advance on the actual ship and then assemble it, you can make various discoveries and double the fun!
