[6-wheel shocks arrive in Japan for the first time]
F1 entered F1 in 1976 and achieved first and second finishes at the Swedish Grand Prix, proving that it had more than just novelty potential. The Tyrell P34 is the only six-wheeled machine in history. That year, it also appeared at Fuji Speedway, Japan's first F1 race. In qualifying, J. Scheckter took 5th place and P. Depailler took 13th place. In the rainy race, P. Depailler made a strong attempt to catch up and briefly took the lead. Due to the gradually drying road surface, there were times when his rain tires burst in the final stages and he lost position, but he fought through the turbulent race and took second place behind M. Andretti in his Lotus. They showed off their high performance to Japanese fans.
