Plastic Models
[Scale] 1/700
Product introduction: Anti-aircraft armament has been strengthened, and new parts have been added to recreate the Battle of Leyte Gulf with No. 21, 22, and 13 radars and numerous single machine guns. The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing and painting.
The scale is 1/700, and the offshore model does not include the bottom of the ship.
This product is made up of conventional (special series) molds and newly added mold parts.
The heavy cruiser "Takao" was a modified and improved version of the previous Myoko-class cruiser, and was built as a treaty cruiser.
The first ship, Takao, was completed in 1932 at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, and four other ships were built: Atago, Chokai, and Maya.
The 20.3 cm twin gun turret can take an elevation angle of 70 degrees, allowing for anti-aircraft fire, and is equipped with five guns.
In 1939, the ship was remodeled, with the bridge being reduced in size, a bulge being installed, and the rear mast being moved to improve communication.
At the start of the war, the ship was engaged in the Southwestern Front invasion operation, but in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944, it lost its combat capability due to torpedo attacks by American submarines and retreated.
The war ended in Singapore, where it was seized by the British Army and sunk at sea.
This product is based on the appearance of the Takao-class first ship, the Takao, during the Battle of Leyte Gulf (October 1944).
Only the Takao and Atago are equipped with many special parts, such as a bridge that was reduced in size during prewar renovations and a rear mast that was moved to the rear.
New molds have been used to standardize the differences in the reproduction of equipment depending on the product release date, and some parts have been divided to take painting into consideration. The No. 13 radar is a new part with a truss structure and a sculptured antenna shape.
The No. 21 radar is depicted with more delicate engravings than previous accessory parts, such as the insulator base for fixing the element on the front side.
・The No. 22 radar is made into a part in an open state by using a slide mold.
・The 12.7cm twin anti-aircraft gun A-type is divided into 4 parts, with improved modeling resolution compared to the existing 2 parts.
The 9m cutter is made into two parts for painting, and the stand is available as a separate part, or you can choose to use the deck as a one-piece mold.
・The canvas, wheelhouse and engine room canopy of the 11m motorboat are separate parts to allow for painting.
Each painting is done and assembly and bonding are done later.
- The shipboard stand has a molded uneven shape and light holes, giving it a more precise appearance.
- New parts are used for the chrysanthemum crest on the bow and the side lights on the bridge
- Binocular telescope parts have been added to the air defense command post and compass bridge.
- Added decals for the ship name on the stern (painted in battleship colors) and the white lines on the mast
- The Type 96 25mm machine gun is now standardly made of two parts, reducing the amount of painting required.
The hull and starboard sides of the ship are molded as a single piece, allowing for a more stable assembly than a left and right side pasted together assembly.
- The side bulges installed during the remodeling are modeled as a single piece.
- The numerous blocked and unblocked portholes lined up on the sides of the ship, as well as the surrounding external electrical wiring, are reproduced using three-dimensional sculptures.
The upper deck and upper deck are one piece, and the linoleum deck's retainers and the iron deck's anti-slip surfaces are engraved to enhance the sense of detail.
- The upper deck has a slope (camber angle) that becomes lower on the outer sides.
Various details are reproduced, such as each deck, machine gun ammunition box, single machine gun mounting area, and hose reel.
- The shelter deck is a separate part, and the torpedo equipment compartment on the lower level is accurately reproduced.
- The aircraft work deck is a separate part, with vertical surfaces engraved using a slide mold.
Bridge: The distinctive large bridge structure is a one-piece part with engravings on all four sides created using a slide mold.
- The air defense command center and compass deck are precisely recreated using slide molds, with each deck including the windbreaks intricately recreated.
The main gun turret and main gun barrel have reproduced the gun muzzle, and depending on the adhesive angle to the turret, the gun depression and elevation angles can be reproduced at any state.
- Heat shield seams on the sides and top of the turret are precisely carved
The chimney and front and rear chimneys are both split into left and right sections, with handrails and double scaffolding delicately carved into them.
・The chimney's rainproof grille is designed so that the inner cylinder side can be seen through when it is removed.
・The steam exhaust pipe is a separate part from the chimney, recreating the individual differences from ships of the same type.
The mast, aircraft rigging, and rear mast are molded as a single piece with the truss structure underneath, allowing for easy reproduction of detailed shapes.
- The seaplane lifting crane is made using a slide mold, with the truss shape carved into the sides and top, and the hook is also delicately modeled.
- The catapult (Kure Type 2 Model 5) uses a slide mold to realistically reproduce the side and top shapes.
The molding color is gray to improve workability (to prevent damage when cutting the gate).
- Two Zero-type (three-seat) floatplanes are included
Includes decals, naval ensigns, national flags, and markings such as the Japanese flag for aircraft carriers.
・Military flags are available in three sizes
The contents are 1/700 scale versions of the actual 10, 6, and 3 widths.
- Includes the Hinomaru flag of carrier-based aircraft, friendly identification belt (yellow belt), etc., and the Hinomaru flag also includes the one without the white border from the later period of the war.
- Decals featuring the white lines on the mast and the ship's name on the stern (in two colors: gold and solid in naval colors)
[Included Contents] 34 runners, 1 assembly manual, 2 decals *This product is made in Japan.
*This product is a plastic model kit that requires assembly.
