Originally built as a cargo ship for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, this ship was outfitted as a special seaplane tender in 1942 during the Pacific War.
While on a transport mission, it was hit by two torpedo attacks from a U.
S.
submarine, but the torpedoes failed to explode and it survived.
However, it was sunk by bombing in May 1945.This kit is a 1/700-scale plastic model kit of the "Kunikawa Maru," which was converted into a special seaplane tender.
The parts are simplified for simple, easy assembly, and accurate reproduction.
Newly designed outfitting, including 25mm twin machine guns and aircraft catapults, has been added.
The precision and intricacy of the 1/700 scale are beautifully expressed.
