This model kit features the full-hull version of the "Suzuya" as it appeared in its final configuration in October 1944, with newly added molds.
The scale is 1/700, and it is a full-hull model including the ship's bottom.
The parts are assembled using adhesive, and painting is required.
The heavy cruiser "Suzuya" was a "light cruiser" built under the London Naval Treaty as the third ship of the Mogami class.
Built with the intention of converting them into heavy cruisers by replacing their guns once treaty restrictions were lifted, the third ship, Suzuya, was completed at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in 1937.
In 1939, the main guns were replaced, increasing from 15 x 15.5 cm guns to 10 x 20.3 cm guns, and the displacement increased from the planned 8,500 tons to 12,400 tons.
In the early stages of the Pacific War, it was engaged in operations in the southern theater, and in 1942 it successively participated in the Battle of Midway, the Second Battle of the Solomon Islands, and the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands.
In October 1944, during Operation Sho-Go 1, it was damaged by an attack from carrier-based aircraft and sunk due to the detonation of its onboard torpedoes.
