Chokai was the fourth ship of the Takao-class.
In 1941, Chokai was scheduled to undergo a modernization refit, similar to Takao and Atago, but this was not realized due to the outbreak of war, and she sank in a condition close to that of a newly built ship.
The kit reproduces her appearance in 1942 using a dedicated mold.
