The 227-1000 series is a two-car commuter DC train that began operation in 2019 with the aim of improving safety and service levels, replacing the many old JNR-type vehicles that were in service in the Wakayama area.
It features a green-based color scheme that "expresses the depth of culture, history, and nature that is common to the Nara and Wakayama areas through which the train travels."
The exterior is similar to the 227 series 0 model, but there are changes to various parts to suit the operating mode, such as the addition of door opening and closing information indicators next to the side sliding doors and long seats inside the cars.
They are used for regional transportation on the Wakayama Line, Manyo Mahoroba Line (Sakurai Line), and Kinokuni Line (Kisei Main Line).
The SD train with two pantographs and the SR train with one pantograph will be released at the same time. You can enjoy driving multiple trains together like the real thing, and also enjoying the company of trains that are in operation in the Kansai region, such as the 287 series.
